Texas Tech University will add to its list of homecoming weekend activities with the launch of a comprehensive campaign, designed to chart the university’s path forward as it enters its second century. Red Raiders of all ages, including students, alumni, faculty, and staff are invited to this free event that will immediately follow the conclusion of the homecoming pep rally and bonfire.

MIDLAND

A double Grammy nominee and winner of the Academy of Country Music award for best new group of the year, will headline this free concert with their authentic post Urban Cowboy country style. Their 2X PLATINUM hit “Drinkin’ Problem” set the stage for their critically acclaimed On the Rocks and No. 1 Billboard Top Country Albums debut “Let it Roll” to unite classic country fans, hipsters, and the media. Their latest album “Barely Blue” will be released nationwide on September 20.


Niko Moon artist

NIKO MOON

A chart-topping country artist, will open this free concert with his feel-good, positive vibes and tunes. His first single “Good Time” went No. 1 on country radio and his other hits continue to climb the charts as he releases more music. Beyond being a solo act, Moon, a SESAC country songwriter of the year, has written eight No. 1 songs and over 40 major record label cuts for artists such as Morgan Wallen, Avicii, Dierks Bentley, Pitbull, Zac Brown Band, Rascal Flatts and more.

This is a free event. Tickets are not required.


STAGE LOCATION

The stage will be located immediately east of United Supermarkets Arena on the Student Recreation Fields facing the bonfire pit.


CLEAR BAG POLICY

For your safety and for the benefit of law enforcement, a clear bag policy will be in effect:

  • Bags that are clear plastic, vinyl or PVS and do not exceed 12”x6”x12”
  • One-gallon clear plastic freezer bag (Ziplock bag or similar) will be permitted
  • Small clutch bags, approximately the size of a hand, with or without a handle or strap will be permitted
  • Exceptions will be made for medically necessary items
  • All bags are subject to search

Please do not bring purses larger than a clutch, backpacks, fanny packs, cinch bags, briefcases, computer bags, diaper bags, etc. Bringing any of these bags is grounds for dismissal from the event.

Texas Tech is a concealed carry campus. No other weapons, such as knives, chains, or mace are allowed.


CONCESSIONS

Food trucks, offering a variety of choices available for purchase, will be positioned just off 18th street adjacent to the evening festivities. There will not be any concessions near the stage area.

PARKING

Public parking will be available in the following areas near the concert location after 5:30 p.m. Attendees that park earlier than 5:30 p.m. will be at risk for citation.

  • Commuter lots west of United Supermarkets Arena (C-10, C-12, C-14, C-15, C-16)
  • R-18, R-25, R-5, and R-1
  • ADA parking will be available in R-37, located on the west side of United Supermarkets Arena.

CAMPUS STREET CLOSURES

Please note that 18th street between Flint Avenue and the Texas Tech Parkway will be closed to through traffic.
