Texas Tech Named in Top 10% of 2023 Best for Vets

This is the 11th year the university has been ranked by Military Times.

Texas Tech University has been ranked 26th by Military Times in its “2023 Best for Vets: Colleges” rankings. The ranking puts Texas Tech in the top 10% of schools in the nation. Military Times’ list is the largest and most comprehensive annual ranking of schools for military service members and veterans.

The ranking is assembled through a survey sent to colleges and universities across the nation asking about their programs for veterans. The survey results are then analyzed, along with public data obtained from the U.S. Department of Education and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.

“Our campus is richer for the experiences our veterans and active military bring,” said Provost and Senior Vice President Ron Hendrick. “Being ranked for these efforts recognizes the work we do to provide early access to courses, as well as the many services to ensure the academic and personal success of those who have dedicated their lives in service to our country.”

In October, Texas Tech also received a Gold Award from the Texas Veterans Commission. Twenty-one public institutions in Texas received recognition for providing excellence in education and related services that significantly contribute to the academic success of student veterans and military-connected students.

Texas Tech fosters a culture of support through its Military and Veterans Programs (MVP). Since 2010, MVP has offered community and campus resources along with mentoring, special events, financial aid and scholarship assistance, dedicated study space and its own military and veterans alumni network.

“Texas Tech is dedicated to providing exceptional education to our veterans, military servicemembers and their families,” said Director of MVP Gracie Guerra. “We have a long-standing campus culture that values their service to our nation and welcomes the talents they bring to the Texas Tech community. It is our duty to provide academic support, resources and community engagement that allows them to flourish and succeed in completing their degree. Our department is proud to contribute to Texas Tech’s unwavering commitment to be the university choice for veterans, servicemembers and their families.”
