Tate Hutchinson and McKeely Underwood were crowned 2024 homecoming royalty.
Tate Hutchinson of Paducah and McKeely Underwood of Lubbock were crowned Texas Tech University’s 2024 Homecoming King and Queen.
The winners were announced Oct. 19 during halftime of the Texas Tech vs. Baylor game.
The king and queen were crowned on the field at Jones AT&T Stadium.
The student body voted for the winners after the Homecoming Court was announced Oct.
18 at Rowdy Raider Rally.
Hutchinson, a senior kinesiology major, represents Sigma Chi.
“If my younger self could see what is happening right now, he would be so proud,” said Hutchinson. “Being chosen as Texas Tech University Homecoming King is one of my proudest moments. It will allow me to lead with kindness, honor and pride. Not just for myself, but for my family, my organizations, and most importantly, my university. It would be that chance I have been waiting for to truly give back to the university that has given everything to me.”
Underwood, a senior public relations and strategic communications major, represents Kappa Kappa Gamma.
“A true Homecoming Queen not only takes great joy in the moment, but also commits to the obligations ahead,” said Underwood. “I was born in Lubbock, Texas, and I have lived here my entire life. I always knew I would attend Texas Tech and the last four years I have fallen more and more in love with our great university because it is here where I have evolved from a teenage girl to a young lady. Texas Tech University has my heart and always will!”
