The university achieved the No. 66 spot in the 2025 list of Best Online Programs and ranked in the top third among Big 12 Conference schools.
Texas Tech University continues to provide a cost-effective and comprehensive option when it comes to online higher education offerings, as U.S. News & World Report released its 2025 Best Online Programs rankings today (Jan. 21), placing Texas Tech No. 66 in the nation.
The ranking puts Texas Tech in the top 25% of universities in the U.S. and among the top third of Big 12 Conference schools, tied with Kansas State for fourth-highest mark among league universities. Of the 11 categories Texas Tech earned ranks in, all but three had the university in the top 50.
“Texas Tech’s online programs have flourished in recent years, largely due to the dedication of our faculty and staff in meeting students where they are and supporting their goals,” said Provost and Senior Vice President Ron Hendrick. “Our $10K Degree Completion Program for non-traditional students, along with our microcredentials and industry certificates, have been pivotal in these rankings. More importantly, these programs contribute to producing highly educated individuals who drive innovation, strengthen the workforce and enhance the overall prosperity of our state.”
Texas Tech was particularly noted for its work in providing online educational opportunities for veterans:
- No. 19 Best Online Masters in Business Programs for Veterans
- No. 23 Best Online MBA for Veterans
- No. 34 Best Online Bachelors Programs for Veterans
- No. 38 Best Online Masters in Education Programs for Veterans
The Best Online Bachelor’s and Best Online Master’s in Education for Veterans were new rankings listed this year by U.S. News & World Report. Additionally, Texas Tech has the No. 8 Best Online Bachelor’s in Business Program.
Texas Tech also ranked No. 33 for Best Online MBA Programs and No. 35 in Best Online Non-MBA Master’s in Business Programs. Texas Tech also boasts a top 100 ranking in Best Online Master’s in Information Technology (65) and Best Online Master’s in Engineering (75).
