TechAlert! Power Outage Update

This is an update on the power outage affecting parts of the Texas Tech campus in Lubbock. Faculty in affected buildings should email students with class updates and have discretion over how to manage today’s classes. Students can access internet and computers in the Libraries and Student Union to join classes remotely if needed. Staff in affected buildings should work remotely for the rest of the day. Classes in unaffected buildings will meet as scheduled.

This is an emergency notification from Texas Tech University. This is a follow-up notification regarding the power outage and evacuation of parts of the Texas Tech campus in Lubbock. While power has been restored to some areas of campus, Texas Tech University remains closed today (Thursday, March 13) and Friday, March 14. Students who live on campus will receive additional communication regarding housing and dining accommodations. Please continue to avoid the area around the Engineering Key until further notice.

TechAlert! Texas Tech Campus Closure and Spring Break Adjustment

This is a follow-up notification regarding the recent power outage and evacuation of parts of the Texas Tech campus in Lubbock. Texas Tech University will be closed on Thursday, March 13, and Friday, March 14. Spring Break for students, originally scheduled to start Monday, will begin immediately. Students residing in on-campus residence halls are encouraged to delay departure until daylight Thursday morning. On-campus students in need of assistance or alternative accommodations should contact (806) 789-6000 or tanya.massey@ttu.edu. Faculty and staff are advised to work remotely, if possible and appropriate, until further notice. Updates will be provided as additional information becomes available.

This is an emergency notification from the Texas Tech Police Department. An explosion at a manhole has affected multiple locations on the Texas Tech campus, causing widespread power outages to both Texas Tech University and Health Sciences Center. The Engineering Key has been evacuated. We ask that the public avoid campus. More information will be provided as it becomes available.
