Data Collection Purpose

Our goal in the TTU IT Division is to determine your data collection needs, and provide appropriate data collection tools centrally supported, where possible. For data collection associated with a sponsored or non-sponsored research project, you must start with the Institutional Review Board.

Academic institutions typically have three primary data collection purposes:

• Official Reporting;
• Institutional Program Assessment; and
• Scholarly Research.

Official reporting to regulatory authorities and accrediting bodies are completed through our Institutional Research Department, where de-identified data can be reviewed at Institutional Research.
